ACT presents A BAD CASE OF LOVE

If you think your marriage has become trying sometimes, well think twice and jump into a world of Herbert and Viola Bitta. They are the husband and wife at the center of a confusing one act courtroom comedy that is set in the present day and gives you a glimpse into the lives of two dysfunctional and less than attractive human beings. So come on down to our courthouse and sit in on the proceedings. Who knows, you might end up on the jury!

Performances are on September 9, 10th and 11th with curtain time at 7:30pm. Doors will open 1 hour before the show and tickets can be purchased at the door for $5.00 each.

A Bad Case of Love is an original script directed by Dave Zerrusen and written by ACT players Dave Zerrusen and Charlie Niehaus. Cast members include Gene Zerrusen as Herbet S. Bitta, Annette Trigleth as Viola S. Bitta , Charlie Niehaus as Judge Saul Lister, Dr, Steve Bailey as Prosecutor Jack Bass, Carrie Voelker as defense attorney Sue Earlywine , Josh Robison as the bailiff, Linda Smith as Mrs. Steno and April Zacha as Herbina Bitta.

High Cotton appearing on ALM stage May 8th

High Cotton exists to pick and sing authentic Bluegrass music. This band from the flat prairie land of east central Illinois aims at the heart of the high-lonesome sound, full of foggy bottoms and smoky mountain tops. It airs out three and four part harmonies on top of scintillating banjo, skirling fiddles and Monroe-style mandolin all played to the insistent rhythms of guitar and doghouse base. From its beginning days as house band for a local production of the musical Cotton Patch Gospel, High Cotton searches out song and instrumental material to zestify your day with hard-driving, tasteful music. No emotions are neglected and a lot of the good ones are encouraged. If you need some Bluegrass in your life we invite you to pick High Cotton!

Cliff Anglen plays mandolin and dobro and sings harmony and lead vocals. Cliff is from Normal, IL and has been involved in several bluegrass bands over the years. He is a retired Speech Pathologist for Normal public schools.

Bill Blickhan plays guitar and sings harmony and lead vocals. Bill hails from the Monticello area and is an officer at one of the city's banks.

Milt Craig plays fiddle and finger-style guitar. Milt is originally from North Carolina and was involved in bluegrass back in its formative years. Milt's engaging and genuine wit make him a natural as the master of ceremonies at our shows. Milt is a retired pilot.

Dan Defend plays banjo and sings harmony and lead vocals. Dan's day job is engineering manager for a hi-tech company.

Tom Koehler plays fiddle. Tom is a physician practicing in Danville.

Rick Rhodes plays bass fiddle and sings lead and harmony vocals. Rick has a formal music background but not enough to hurt his bluegrass. He is an insurance agent in Monticello.

ALM Music Games!

The Altamont Living Museum is holding a Music & Trivia Night on July 19th.

The ALM will open the doors around 5pm and feature the artwork of Effingham Artist Jan VonBokel.

The contest will start at 7pm with a "Name that Tune" contest. Contestants will be given a short hint, and they will buzz in for the first bid and then auction down the number of notes it will take for them to name that tune. Entry Fee - $5 per person - 1st PRIZE - $25!

A single elimination lightning trivia contest starts about 8pm. Teams of up to five players take the stage and the buzzers to buzz in with the answers, score points and eliminate the other teams. This bracket tournament will determine the first ALM Lightning Trivia Masters Team. Entry Fee - $20 per team. Teams of 1 - 5 members. 1st Prize - $50

Following the lightning trivia contest at about 9pm the Guitar Hero contest takes the stage. Players duel it out on the stage with a projected screen the size of the stage itself as they play their way through the brackets to become the 2008 ALM Guitar Hero. Entry Fee - $5 per team - 1st Prize $25

The ALM Presents Steve Ulrich - 7:30 on July 21st

In the late 70´s as Zeus Muldoon, in the 80´s as Steve Duckfoot, Steve Ulrich was a mainstay in the Austin Folk scene. Sharing billing with such luminaries as Blaze Folley, Pat Mears, Lyle Lovett and Townes Van Zandt. Ulrich was considered a "best bet" by the local press and club goers alike.

A Steve Ulrich show is a very fun way to spend an evening as Steve is a relaxed, friendly, intimate performer. He tells stories and reveals himself as an intelligent and caring individual. A funny man and a serious participant in the world.
